Chelsea defender Ryan Bertrand, who recently completed the season long loan deal to Aston Villa, says that he wants to be part of the England squad for the World Cup 2014. Bertrand is one of the few players to make the grade from Chelsea, but he did not feature a lot of times under new manager Jose Mourinho.

The youngster was a surprise inclusion into the starting line-up for Champions league final against Bayern Munich a few years ago. Last season, he featured regularly under the management of both Roberto di Matteo and Rafa Benitez.

After failing to feature regularly this campaign, Chelsea decided that it was best to send the 24-year-old on a loan deal so that it would allow him to feature for the national team. There was talk he would end up wearing a liverpool t-shirt, but the move never happened.

The emergence of Cesar Azpilicueta as a potential replacement to Ashley Cole has made chances difficult for Bertrand at Stamford Bridge. After making the move to Aston Villa, who are doing well this campaign, the 24-year-old says that it is time for to play regularly and impress Roy Hodgson.

Leighton Baines and Ashley Cole are expected to be the key contenders for the left back spot, but Bertrand hopes that regular football at the top level makes Hodgson change his mind.

"I think it will be in near enough every English player's mind who is playing in the Premier League now. As long as my form is good and I play enough games then you will always be in the hat. I guess it'll be down to the England manager, Roy, to judge and the fans to judge. I'm not going to say I want to be here or there or say I'm definitely going or I'm definitely not going. I'm just going to take each game as it comes and hopefully my performances will be good enough to be considered," said Bertrand.
