Burnley moved closer to Premier League safety thanks to the 3-2 win at home to Everton in their rescheduled game at Turf Moor on Wednesday. Ivorian international Maxwel Cornet scored the winning goal five minutes from time as the Clarets came from behind to score two second half goals and seal an important win over Everton in the race to stay in the Premier League.

Visitors Everton began the game with a four-point cushion over Burnley who are third from bottom on the Premier League log and the slim defeat to the Clarets means that the advantage is down to just one point.

Nathan Collins returned to the Burnley starting XI for the visit of Everton after serving a one-game suspension and he handed his team a fantastic start via a header from the corner kick taken by Cornet. Everton were able to recover from the setback to take a deserved 2-1 lead into the break thanks to a pair of penalties from Brazil international Richarlison. The forward scored the equaliser from the spot when Burnleymidfielder Ashley Westwood brought down lively Everton attacker Anthony Gordon in the box. Richarlison then scored his brace when he tucked away the second penalty awarded to Everton after Ukrainian left-back VitaliyMykolenko was brought down by Burnley winger Aaron Lennon in the box.
Burnley went into the break with a deficit and they were able to turn it around in the second half thanks to the goals from England international Jay Rodriguez and the aforementioned Cornet. England striker Rodriguez scored the equaliser for the Clarets before Cornet produced the winner to take his league tally to seven goals since moving to England last summer. The attacker has an attacking return of seven goals and one assist since he signed for the Clarets at the start of the season.
