RIO FERDINAND WANTS MAGUIRE DROPPED
Submitted by contentManchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has revealed that he would drop Harry Maguire from the England starting XI on current form.
The Ex-Manchester United defender talked about the centre back options available for England manager Gareth Southgate ahead of the European Championships this summer on the FIVE Youtube channel.
According to Rio Ferdinand, he would pick Everton defender Michael Keane ahead of Manchester United skipper Harry Maguire as one of the two centre backs in the England starting line-up on current form. Rio Ferdinand has opted for the centre back partnership of John Stones and Michael Keane.
Manchester City defender John Stones is a rejuvenated man for the Citizens and he has been able to form a potent partnership with new signing Ruben Dias at the heart of the defence at the Etihad Stadium. John Stones and Manchester City have been watertight in defence this season and that has formed the basis of their surge to the top of the Premier League. Manchester City have a ten-point lead at the top of the table.
The Manchester United skipper has not been able to coordinate the Manchester United defence this season. Manchester United have one of the worst defensive records in the top half of the Premier League standings. The Red Devils have conceded 32 goals in just 25 games in the Premier League. The poor defensive record has been the Achilles heel for Manchester United in their quest to pip Manchester City and others to the league title.
It is looking like England player Harry Maguire and his Manchester United teammates will miss out on the league title to Manchester City unless the Citizens have a near monumental collapse in the final 13 games. Manchester United have to make up ten points in those 13 games to have any chance of winning the league title.
