GODFREY SET FOR EVERTON RETURN
Submitted by contentEverton boss Frank Lampard has revealed that England defender Ben Godfrey is on course to make his return to the squad for the Palace game on Thursday night. Lampard and his Everton players have Premier League safety in their sights ahead of the visit of London team Crystal Palace.
On Godfrey, Lampard spoke about him during his pre-match press conference on Wednesday ahead of the Palace game. According to him, the utility England defender has done well to make himself available for his squad ahead of the Palace following a spell out due to a thigh problem. Lampard stated that the player will likely be in the Everton squad for the game and that a decision would be made on his potential involvement in the game.
The task for Everton is a straightforward one if the Merseyside giants want to remain in the top flight as far as club football in England is concerned. Everton have to beat Crystal Palace at home to ensure that they don't take their battle to avoid the drop into the final day of the season at the weekend. The Toffees are in a battle to avoid relegation from the Premier League alongside the duo of Leeds United and Burnley. They are fifth from bottom with 36 points and one point better than Leeds in fourth from bottom with a game in hand on the Whites. Burnley are third from bottom and they are two points adrift of Everton having played the same number of games.
Just what's obtainable with Everton, Burnley will be in action on Thursday night at the home of Aston Villa before they play hosts to Newcastle United on the final day of the season. For Leeds United, they would be at London club Brentford on the final day of the season.
