Wenger Calm over Contract Situation

Submitted by isport

Arsene Wenger has admitted he has been offered a new contract by Arsenal despite not yet committing himself to signing an extension to his current deal. The long-serving Gunners manager is entering the final year of his contract and the new deal on the table is believed to offer the Frenchman the chance to extend his current contract until the end of 2016.

There had been plenty of calls for Wenger to step down as Arsenal manager in the summer, especially in the Betfair forums, but the signing of Mesut Ozil and the fantastic start to the new Premier League season has put Wenger right back into the Arsenal fans’ affections.

While it seems extremely unlikely that the Arsenal manager will not sign a new contract, Wenger has admitted he is in no rush to sign a new deal at the Emirates.

"Yes, I didn't deny that (that a contract had been offered). I just said what I said at the start of the season and nothing has changed. I believe that when you are manager at the club, you have to prepare for the long term always and act like you would stay forever,” said Wenger.

Sitting top of the Premier League before the international break, Arsenal’s early-season form has made them potential Premier League title challengers with Betfair this season.

The underwhelming beginning to the year by the two Manchester teams and Chelsea has opened the door for Arsenal to get used to life back at the top of the Premier League table, and now the question for football betting fans will be whether Wenger’s men can maintain this level of form for the full duration of the season.
