Roy Hodgson will leave the England team into the Euro 2016 despite his future being uncertain. The contract of the former Liverpool boss comes to an end after the tournament.

Negotiations are yet to begin over an extension and it is largely believed due to Hodgson’s poor performances in major tournaments. After being in charge of the national team during the Euro 2012 and World Cup 2014, Hodgson will not be satisfied with his own performances. The Euro 2012 finished respectably with England reaching the quarter-finals but they could not get past even the group stage at the World Cup.

The manager has made numerous changes to the team over the last year. Even though the qualification results have been impeccable, the England FA are awaiting on the performance of the team in a major tournament before making their decision on Hodgson. FA chief executive Martin Glenn, meanwhile, stated that the manager was content with the fact that he will head into the tournament with his future as being uncertain. After disappointing from the results during the summer, England are once again back on track with three consecutive wins in the qualifying campaign. The team has a whopping nine point advantage with only two games remaining and have effectively qualified for the major tournament.

“It has been made to be more of an issue than it is. Roy is very comfortable. He knows it is a results business. We want to avoid the slightly unsavoury situation we had with Fabio Capello at the World Cup. Everything we want to do with Roy and the senior team is what are the best ways to make Roy successful. If it is a change, it is a welcome one.Myself and Roy have a very good relationship. He is by far and away the best coach we could have for England,” said Hodgson.
