GERRARD HAS TITLE REGRETS

Former Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard claims that he will never be at peace for the rest of his life after losing out on some important prizes in football.

Gerrard is one of the few top players in English football not have won the Premier League. He came very close to doing so during the 2013-14 season. Liverpool could have been crowned champions during the season had it not been for a slip from Gerrard in the 2-0 loss against Chelsea. The result proved catastrophic and Liverpool ended up losing the title in the few days after this game.

After having performed exceptionally well and been part of several great victories, Gerrard was extremely disappointed to have gone down in this fashion.

Gerrard admitted in an interview with 1st4footballtickets.com that he is quite selfish when it comes to football, but that is unlikely to change the history as far as the league is concerned.

The iconic midfielder has won trophies like the Champions League and the FA Cup, but the Premier League has been one title that has eluded him. He came close to joining Chelsea in 2005 – just after winning the Champions League – in a move that could have given him the opportunity. Later, however, the player’s love for Liverpool grew so much that he came close to retiring at the club where he started his career.

“You look back at the highs and the lows. I always recognise that I achieved some incredible things. But I also reflect on some of the lows and wish that they were different, that I had achieved a little more. I don’t think I’ll ever be at peace. When it comes to football, I’m quite hungry, quite selfish. I want more than perhaps I can have. Maybe I’m a bit like a kid, a bit immature, when it comes down to that,” said Gerrard.
